Cotswold Rangers Women 3 Dursley Town Ladies 4

SOPHIE Lawrence landed the knockout blow as Dursley came from two goals down to beat high-flying Cotswold Rangers for their most impressive victory of the season.

The Whitminster-based hosts had won the reverse fixture 8-1 at the Rec, but found it hard to break down their opponents here despite initially playing with the strong wind.

Town lost skipper Michelle Watson for a 20-minute spell after she hit her head on the ground following a nasty collision, and had goalkeeper Jodie Turl to thank for several saves.

Rangers eventually took the lead just short of the half-hour mark, and doubled their advantage three minutes after the break, but it was then that the fightback started.

The hosts were decent in possession but very cumbersome at the back, and they had no answer to the pace of Charlotte Warren, who quickly halved the deficit.

Just after the hour mark, the Rangers defence retreated and allowed Zoe Gabb the time and space to launch a 25-yard blockbuster into the top corner to equalise.

Two minutes later, Warren won a header which panicked a home defender into a horribly ungainly slice that bounced over the goalkeeper and trundled into the net.

Warren almost had another when she again outpaced her markers and slipped the ball past the goalkeeper, only for a defender to get back and clear off the line.

The home side responded and were soon level, however, and Dursley then required a goalline clearance of their own from Emma Allen, but there was a twist in the tale.

Eight minutes from time, Warren found Lawrence with a square pass and the midfielder jinked past her marker before picking out the far corner of the net.
