FOREST Green boss Mark Cooper isn’t ruling out a late push for the top three after their win at Port Vale last weekend.

Rovers have picked up seven points from their last three matches and are eight points behind third place.

That spot is occupied by this Saturday’s opponents MK Dons and Cooper feels an automatic promotion place is still up for grabs.

“We have a really tough game against MK Dons but Mansfield lost so I still think third place might be open,” he said after the win at Vale Park.

“We have to beat MK Dons if we have any illusions of looking at that but let's just look at the next game and that’s MK Dons and try and get three points.”

Reece Brown scored twice for Rovers in the 2-0 victory at Vale Park and has now scored 10 and assisted 10.

The midfielder is out of contract in the summer and Cooper insists the club has made their intentions clear.

“We’ve made intentions clear to Reece and his representative that we want him to stay at Forest Green, we feel it would be the best place for his development.

“He gets afforded the luxury of having a bit of a free rein with us and he’s certainly flourishing.

“If the big clubs come he’s out of contract and it would be a compensation issue but that’s for another thing.”

Rovers are sixth in League Two.
