Yate 3-2 Melksham
Olly Mehew came off the bench to secure a home playoff semi-final for Yate as they beat Melksham Town 3-2 at Lodge Road.
Luke Ballinger gave the visitors the lead after just the 9 minutes before the impressive Nick Peare levelled following a quick following move which started with goalkeeper James Carey.
The Bluebells had a number of brilliant chances in the first half, the best of which came through Adam Price whose chip was well saved by Sam Thomson in the Melksham net.
The home side’s dominance continued after the break and the deservedly lead on 58 minutes as Ross Langworthy headed in Josh Ford’s cross from the right to complete the turnaround.
However, Will Thomson levelled the match at 2-2 after his deflected strike beat Carey into the top left corner.
The drama wasn’t done there, as Mehew, who was introduced for the final 15 minutes made the difference, winning and converting the penalty to send his side to victory.
Jason Hutchings was dismissed as a result of the challenge on Mehew.
Yate’s final game of the season sees them travel to Street on Saturday, looking to secure 2nd place in the table.
