Fromeside Gymnastics Club grabbed a raft of medals at the South West Gymnova Competition 2019 in Barnstaple.

Ekraj Ingale competing in the under 16s had a clean round and exceeded his personal best score. His medals reflected his stellar performance. Ekraj was awarded five gold medals and one bronze medal, securing him the title of Under 16’s Regional Champion.

In the Under 14 category, gymnast Thomas Payne had an outstanding round gaining a silver on pommel and a bronze on parallel bars. Competing as an over 12, Finley Pauling added to the success of the Fromeside team by scoring a bronze on floor, bronze on pommel, gold on vault, silver on parallel bars and silver on high bar. Finley’s practiced routines and high scores placed him as bronze overall in his age group.

Competing in the under 12s team category, gymnast George Collins-Beckett,

Seb Aquilina, Will Schmitz and Ollie Glanville’s hard work and dedication saw them bring home a team silver. Individually, Will Schmitz was awarded silver overall, gold on pommel, gold on rings, bronze on parallel bars, and silver on high bar. Will was joined on the podium by teammate Ollie Glanville who achieved a silver on floor and parallel bars.

Adding in Fromeside’s success, in the under 10s category Tom Bushell achieved a silver on floor while in the under 8s Harry Turner received bronze overall, silver on pommel, and silver on high bar. Gymnast George Stobbart’s performance won him gold on floor and silver on high bar and Toby was awarded a bronze overall, bronze on floor and silver on vault.

A club spokesman said: "Well done to all the boys who competed in the South West Gymnova Competition in Barnstaple and a special thank you to head coach Karen Brewer, assistant coach Matt Thatcher, Coaches Joel Duncan and Ben Friis for all their organisation and hard work."

Meanwhile, Fromeside celebrated some fantastic result in the South West Regional Gradings in Melksham earlier this month.

Fromeside can now boast a 99% pass rate with the majority of gymnasts awarded a distinction or commendation in all levels tested.

Regional Grade Six gymnasts Lydia Pitman, Gracie Lodge, Poppy O’Neil, Sienna Kenniston, Rylee Harrison, Hope Vaughn, Chloe Gater, Angel Brookbank, Amelia Budd and Jessica Yapp had beautiful performances on all four apparatus.

Regional Grade Five was awarded to gymnasts Hannah Boyd, My Allington, Heidi Bruce and Maya Mimoun for their stellar work on beam, vault, floor and bars. While gymnasts Isabelle Watson, Millie Holloway, Casey Harrison, Lola Purnell, Millie Nunn and Pippa Sumner’s hard work and dedication saw a Regional Grade Four awarded to each of the them for their beautiful routines.

Ending the competition and securing a Regional Grade Three were gymnasts Ionie Williams, Charleigh Mills and Megan Cappi. Their clean round and beautiful routines made them shine.
