Wotton Rovers U15s completed the league and cup double Monday evening with a comprehensive 3-0 victory over arch-rivals Rodborough, writes Adam Stacey.
Rovers secured the league title with a hard fought 0-0 battle the previous week against the same opposition, but Monday night saw Wotton in imperious form.
Jack Powell opened the scoring early in the first half, cleverly knocking the ball over the head of the Rodborough goalie and finishing smartly with his head. Wotton soaked up pressure well for the rest of the half, George Rowen in goal being forced to make a number of excellent saves to preserve the lead. But the second half was a different matter altogether. Powell profited from a rare defensive error finishing clinically to make it 2-0 and captain Jamie Stacey killed the game off, his left foot finish at the end of a mazy run in the box securing the cup for Wotton.
