YATE U16 girls made it back-to-back Avon Plate championships.

Yate started brightly - earning a penalty corner within 30 seconds. Charlie Hollywood striking in from the post.

However, Cheltenham netted parity. Yate responded- Hannah Wilson putting them ahead once more with a brilliantly scored second. Cheltenham started to tire, but Yate kept up the intensity with Darcey Sullivan using some silky skills to slip the ball through to Jessie Edge in the D, who very calmly scored a third for Yate.

Cheltenham stepped their game up a notch and scored a late second goal in the last five minutes.

The excitement continued with five members of the Yate Hockey club juniors in the U14 boys Katherine Lady Berkeley's school squad who travelled to Lee Valley hockey and tennis centre, Stratford for the National Championship.

This was a fantastic opportunity to play on the on the hockey pitch used as the stage for the 2012 Olympics and many international hockey games since.The team played brilliant hockey and were crowned National Champions, after a 4-0 win in the final against Kingswood.
