Mike Bennewitz's goal of completing a half-marathon every month in 2019 took him to the German city of Stuggart on Sunday.

Appropriately, for the home of Porsche, the course was a quick one and Mike set his fastest time of the year in 1 hour 55 mins.

Meanwhile, Taryn Roberts and Hannah Kinloch Haken started their triathlon season in fine form on Sunday. Both were competing in the Sprint distance in the City of Gloucester Triathlon, which started with a 400m swim, followed by a 28k bike section and a 6k run to the finish. Taryn has already booked her place in the Ironman World Championships in Hawaii in October after a dominant display in last year's Ironman Wales and showed she has a turn of speed to go with the endurance, finishing 2nd place in the women's field and a very impressive 4th place overall in 1 hour 14:56 mins. Her splits were 7:20 mins swim, 42:54 mins bike and a 23:03 mins run. Hannah capped a great day for Thornbury's women with a 4th place finish and 18th overall in 1 hour 21:08 mins, with a 7:24 mins swim, 47:27 mins bike and 24:08 run.

The last of this season's 5-mile Weston Prom series finished in May. Ian Shepherd finished in 189th place in 41:41 mins and John Grimsey finished in 286th in 54:56 mins.

The Hogweed Trot 10k on Monday night is a popular road race which starts and finishes on the outskirts of Yate before heading along undulating country lanes. Paul Harrod was the top Thornbury finisher in 25th place and dipped under 40 mins for the second time in 2019 with a time of 39:54 mins. Adam Frontczak was next in 44th in 41:34 mins, followed by Chris Foley in 165th in 49:43 mins and David Flemington in 254th in 56:52 mins.

Saturday's parkrun results included Pamela MacLeod, who ran with the crowds on Wimbledon Common and finished in 36:23 mins. Liam Symonds-Barry ran 26:12 mins at Kingsway Gloucester and Nick Langridge finished Marple parkrun in Greater Manchester in 21:45 mins.

At Chipping Sodbury, Chris Dawes ran 21:17 mins and Kevin Wood was not far behind in 21:58 mins. At Lee-on-the-Solent, Karen Carr ran 26:23 mins, followed by Malcolm Carr in 26:24 mins. On Severn Bridge, Chris Lee ran 27:36 mins and Clare Evans ran 30:23 mins.
