LUKE HEDGER will approach the Pirelli Superstock 1000 Championship at Brands Hatch this weekend full of vim and vigor.

Hedger was turning up the heat last weekend on his campaign aboard the CPD Kawasaki, in the Pirelli Superstock 1000 Championship. Having had pre-season testing at Donington and briefly starring for Cunnington Racing Team in the No Limits Championship, he was really prepared for the weekend ahead.

Friday saw high temperatures both in the air and on the track giving Hedger ample opportunity to test the bike one final time, putting in good sector and lap times both in free practice one and two - crossing the line in sixth and 10th place.

This was to be the first of to two outings at the Derbyshire circuit, this time being the shorter national circuit at only 1.9 miles, which Hedger is very familiar with.

The first and second races were held on Saturday afternoon split by a 10 minute break to re-fuel. Over 22 laps, Hedger had some great battles with Tom Neave and Levi Day for seventh place in the first race and again in the second race he was utilising every part of the track wrenching the bike from left-to-right, bringing the Kawasaki ZX10 R bike to the chequered flag in eighth place.

The Sunday race saw constant weather changes and torrential rain, but it did not stop Hedger's determination, but unfortunately after some very good passing and late breaking he made one small error coming out of the old hair pin and dropped the bike, but he was perfectly unharmed in the incident.

Luke Hedger: “It was a good weekend with it being a small track and the lap times being close, qualifying was tight but when it came to the racing I had the pace for top five and I showed that pace in the race where I was battling for the podium. The race on Sunday didn’t go to plan, but still was in the top five and showing what me and my team CPD Kawasaki are made off and I can’t thank them enough for all their hard work.”

Team owner Chris Cunnington was pleased with the progress the team are making and looking on to Brands Hatch this weekend.
