TOCKINGTON Manor school fledglings made it back-to-back national swimming relay team gold at the London Aquatic Centre in Queen Elizabeth Park, London.

The Tockington Under-11s team, produced a magnificent performance in the 8x25m relay with personal bests and exciting final lengths. It was a close, challenging race, but they focused on their individual performances and Tockington Manor School were crowned national champions with a new school record time (final time: 2:17:67). This strong team are proving themselves to be contenders across all sports, having also recently won the national cross county running championships.

Mrs B Hinchliffe, head of swimming at Tockington Manor School, said: “We are incredibly proud of all of our swimmers who made it to the national finals. This is a really strong team and it was great to watch them all achieve their best under the pressure of competition, especially in the Olympic pool. Congratulations to our national champions.”

Boosted by the success of the relay race Alex prepared for his individual heat in the backstroke, finishing an impressive 11th in the country.
