Yate Town boss remained tight lipped on his transfer targets despite links to an unnamed National League South striker.
The Gazette understands the Bluebells are close to adding to their squad.
Britton admitted he doesn't like this time of year and kept his cards close to his chest.
"It drives me nuts this time of year," he said.
"There's a couple I want to get in, four players in total, goalkeeper issue is an important one.
"We're close but you're never guaranteed."
The Yate chief is excited for the new season after Yate won promotion to the Evo-Stik Premier League.
Before kicking off in their new league, the Bluebells have two fixtures against EFL clubs to look forward to and Britton is pleased his side will be able to test themselves against top opposition.
"It's great for our fitness," he said. "To get that calibre of teams is great but it's to do with our facilities and how we've dealt with players they've loaned out to us and things like that."
Britton is already optimistic ahead of next season and believes his side won't just be making up the numbers in the Evo-Stik Southern League Premier.
"We're not thinking about a relegation battle," insisted Britton. "We want to go up there and compete.
"I'm looking forward to the start of the season now, more than this time of year."
