Influential Yate Town man Nick Peare has committed to the club for next season.

The midfielder had an outstanding season for Yate, scoring 12 goals as he helped the Bluebells to promotion.

Peare had been linked with a move away but has put any question marks beyond doubt and committed to the club.

After winning promotion, Peare hinted he was happy at Lodge Road.

He said: "The club have been absolutely brilliant to me, I love this club, love playing for this club - it's been a brilliant season.

"We'll enjoy this for the next few weeks but I'm sure Polly's (Paul Britton) is going to have us working hard in June and we reset and go again."

Yate boss Paul Britton is delighted that Peare will be playing for Yate next season.

"You never know with these things but we're delighted," he said.

"It's great that players want to stay and take on the challenge at a higher level with us."

Striker Ben Brooks left Yate earlier this week but Britton says he is close to retaining the majority of the squad that got them promoted including forward Olly Mehew.

"I will be meeting with Olly," he confirmed.

"I've spoken to him on the phone but I want to see him face to face.

"The most important thing for us is to get existing players signed up and committing and we're almost there."
