COALPIT Heath moved out of the bottom two thanks to a ten-run win away to struggling Chew Magna in the Senior Division of the Martin Berrill Bristol & District League.

The visitors slipped from 105-2 to 176 all out after good work from Dafydd Nicholas (46) and Khalid Ali (38).

Chew were then well set in reply at 105-2 but collapsed to 166 as Aaron Neal (5-37) made inroads.

Leaders OB Westbury were five-wicket winners at Claverham who struggled to reach 107 against Stuart MacArthur (5-24), Will Penny (3-13) and Rupert Swetman (1-11).

Experienced opener Alex Harris (50) then ensured there were no shocks for OB Westbury who remain well ahead of second placed Bristol YMCA who completed a four-wicket victory at Bradley Stoke.

Gareth Price (72 not) and Dan Peachey (54) dominated the home side’s 213-6 against Tayyab Riaz (3-47) who followed up with 80 at the top of the order.

Shirehampton stay third following an eight-wicket win at Clevedon 2nds, opener Phil Hughes (82) and Brad Alexander (63) putting on an unbroken 138.

Ben Jefferies starred with ball and bat for Whitchurch who overcame fellow Division One high-flyers Bedminster 2nds by five wickets.

Jefferies (3-34 from nine) and James Gammon (3-29 from six) restricted Bedminster to 180 all out. And Jefferies then top scored on 51 to ensure the win.

This result saw Bedminster slip to third, and put Whitchurch 16 points ahead of Pak Bristolians who triumphed by four wickets away to Winterbourne 2nds.

Ismail Zia (5-12) and Abdullah Tabraiz (2-13, both from nine) restricted the home outfit to a total of 90 which was chased down in just under 24 overs.

Almondsbury swapped places with Portishead and moved off the foot of the table with a 179-run victory away to their relegation rivals, while half centuries from openers Mark Barnes and captain Oli Ralph put Downend 2nds on the way to a five-wicket victory away to Knowle2nds.

In Division Two, Brislington 2nds stay second despite a two-wicket setback away to leaders Bath 3rds, while at the other end of the table Cleeve are off the bottom courtesy of a 20-run home success over Bohemians.

Junaid Khan (4-30 from nine) and Syed Zaidi (3-38) bowled out Long Ashton for 178 ahead of Division Three leaders Pakistani Express coasting in by six wickets, Ali Akbar top scoring with 59.
