THORNBURY closed the gap at the top of Premier Two Glos/Wilts in the Courage West of England League with a two-wicket home success over Frocester, taking advantage of leaders Chippenham’s 46-run slip up at Corsham, writes Steve Hill.

Chad Trainor’s 58 lifted Frocester to a challenge of 217, Greg Mallitte and Dan Lezar both taking three wickets for Thornbury who then had to work hard for the spoils, recovering well from a shaky 22-2.

Vital runs came throughout the order, led by Nick Willis-Stovold (36) and Yvan Grant (34) as Thornbury got over the line with two overs in hand.
