BOHEMIANS moved off the bottom thanks to a six-wicket home success over Hampset in Division Two of the Martin Berrill Bristol & District League.

The visitors were rumbled for just 103 by Mike Ley (3-25), Joe Stevens (3-26) and Tom Ware (2-16) before Aaron Powell (40) led the charge to a much-needed win.

Bohs are only four points behind eighth-placed Bishopston 2nds who completed a six-wicket home success over Hambrook who are now propping up the table.

Senior Division leaders Old Bristolians Westbury were 43-run victors at home to Shirehampton with Oli Meadows enjoying a memorable afternoon.

The 16-year-old opener dominated his side’s total of 198-9 with 109, seamer Kenny Earl and left-arm spinner John Stilwell both finishing with three wickets. And Meadows followed up with 3-22 from nine overs of leg spin as Shire fell short, Will Penny capturing 3-35.

Bristol YMCA kept the heat on with a five-wicket home triumph over Coalpit Heath who were dismissed for 97, Dafydd Nicholas (22) the only batsman to reach double figures.

Andy Parkinson (4-15 from seven), Tayyab Riaz (3-14) and skipper John Colley (3-15, both from nine) shared the wickets but YMCA were soon rocking at 19-3 before Colley took charge with an unbeaten 66.

Matt Peach (63) and Ash Baber (43) top scored for Bradley Stoke who trumped Nailsea by 110 runs, Marcus Thatcher taking 4-32 from nine.

Division One leaders Whitchurch suffered a two-wicket setback at Downend 2nds for whom Joe Tolman (4-27 from nine) and Phil Jackson (60) shone.

And this allowed Pak Bristolians to move back into pole position thanks to their 64-run win away to struggling Almondsbury, Tanveer Ahmed and Qasir Abass both taking three wickets.

Division Three leaders Backwell Flax Bourton held on for a four-run victory away to rivals Pakistan Express, opener Tim Martin hitting 71 and skipper Sam Flowers capturing 3-35.

And in Division Four, Bedminster 3rds are the new pacesetters after a surprise defeat for previous leaders Twyford House 2ndat home to lowly Bristol 3rds.

Mike Love’s 50 and Rob Jones’ 3-25 helped Bristol complete an 18-run success. And this allowed Bedminster to move up after thumping Claverham 2nds by 185 runs with Adam Hares hitting 86 before Adam Mawer (3-5 from four) and Ed Duckworth (3-12 from six) produced devastating spells.
