FOREST GREEN boss Mark Cooper fears George Williams could face surgery after a horror tackle forced him off inside two minutes of Rovers' season-opening 1-0 victory over Oldham.
Williams was caught by Oldham's Zak Mills and was stricken on the floor for five minutes before eventually being stretchered off with his left leg put in a precautionary leg brace.
“We think he’s going to have surgery,” revealed Cooper. “I don’t understand the referee, it’s a two-footed tackle off the floor and the referee’s word was ‘I’ll let you have that as it’s your first one’.
“You are talking about people’s careers here and I don’t understand it.”
Watch Mark Cooper give his post-match thoughts to BBC reporter Bob Hunt and SNJ sports editor Ashley Loveridge.
