YATE teenager Alfie Gendall crowned his first JASCAR (Junior American Stock Car Racing) race weekend with a victory at the Cowdenbeath Racewall circuit in Scotland.

The JASCAR race series was supporting the Saloon Stock Car Championship of the world race event in front of a large crowd and they provided them with some fantastic racing in some very changeable and tricky conditions.

His first race was on a dry track and on slicks and Alfie,13, made it to the front of the field and managed to secure first-place.

"It felt amazing to win my first race," said Alfie.

"I was only hoping to get onto the podium during my first race weekend and was elated to come away with a win."

Alfie went onto pick up his second victory under the floodlights in the third race later that evening and a second place finish in a very wet fifth race on the Sunday.

His strong finishing in the first five races meant he started the final in pole position but unfortunately had a mechanical issue which meant he had to retire early in the race. Despite this Alfie was pleased with his achievements during the weekend.

He added: "To come away from my first race weekend with two first places and a second exceeded my expectations. I have learnt a lot about racing in different track conditions and made some great new friends. I am now looking forward to the next race meeting at Lydden Hill in September. I would like to thank my sponsors including Bristol Cameras, Pentax and Cleaner Carpets Bristol as well as the JASCAR officials and my family for making the long journey to Scotland worthwhile."

JASCAR's are built in the USA and are half scale NASCAR cars, powered by a 390cc Honda engine and are limited in the UK to 60mph. They are designed for girls and boys aged eight to sixteen and are a great introduction to motorsport with a full safety roll cage, adjustable suspension, disc brakes and a central driving position.

Alfie is always looking for new sponsors to help him fund his racing, if your company would like to have their logo/details on his car and be seen by thousands please email him at alfiegendallracing@gmail.com or find him on social media.
