How Albion's players rated against Southampton...

MATY RYAN 6

Under pressure with the ball at his feet at times and distribution was not always the best but made a couple of decent saves late in each half.

SHANE DUFFY 6

Is being asked to adapt his game and was not at his most dominant. Got across to cover but failed to clear in the build-up to the all-important Southampton opener.

LEWIS DUNK 7

A great header for the disallowed goal and generally had a decent afternoon in the middle of the back three.

The Argus: DAN BURN 7

Not as good as against West Ham but a similar type of performance running down the left, some good defending and an offside spotted by the officials.

MARTIN MONTOYA 6

Got well forward for a header with which he should have hit the target. The usual attacking ideas but well beaten on Saints’ second goal.

DALE STEPHENS 7

So much good work, including a memorable moment of tracking back in the first half, but his error of judgement was one of the breakdowns which led to the first goal.

DAVY PROPPER 6

Helped Albion make the running for periods and got forward dangerously at times but needs to add a finishing touch.

SOLLY MARCH 6

Fairly quiet for him but got up and down the left to good effect and combined with Trossard at times.

LEANDRO TROSSARD 7

Granted, not everything came off but was a livewire and committed Saints defenders at a time when Albion were ten versus 11.

NEAL MAUPAY 6

Brought into the side as Albion looked to get in behind and was a livewire early on as his side started brightly. But less seen of him as the game wore on.

FLORIN ANDONE 3

His big chance went up in flames with the red-card challenge which cost him and his team so dear. Had started the game quite brightly.

SUBS

JURGEN LOCADIA 5

First man off the bench but took a couple of heavy touches when well placed and sent a good late chance, albeit when offside, against the post.

GLENN MURRAY

Not much chance after being sent on in attack.

PASCAL GROSS

Sent on for the final push and asked to get on the ball and create.
