LOOKING to bolster their attacking firepower, Forest Green have landed Celtic striker Jack Aitchison on a season-long loan.

The 19-year-old, who is the youngest player to ever play, and score, for Celtic at just 16 years and 71 days, penned the deal before leaving Scotland the morning in order to meet the 5pm deadline.

“It feels good to get the deal done, hopefully I can get going on Saturday and help the team and hopefully get some goals,” said Aitchison.

“As a player I tend to make good movements in and around the box, which is where I come alive. I can add some goals and bring others into play around me.

“The style of play was a big reason why I came here. I’ve looked at some clips that I was sent and hopefully the style will suit me.

“I want to try to score some goals here, but most importantly it’s about the team and hopefully I can help us push as high up the league as possible.”

Aitchison made his first professional appearance at the tail end of the 2015/16 season as he stepped off the bench at Celtic Park to net the last goal in a 7-0 thrashing of Motherwell.

The 2016/17 campaign brought with it two more first-team appearances for the youngster, as well as three appearances for the Under 20s side which saw him net twice.

With first-team minutes at a premium at Neil Lennon's side, Aitchison spent the majority of last season on loan at Scottish Championship side Alloa, before returning to Celtic for the start of this campaign.

The teenager, who will wear number 29 during his time at Forest Green, has represented Scotland at U15, U16, U17 and U19 level, scoring 12 times.

The transfer is subject to EFL and FA approval, as well as international clearance.
