Dursley Town AFC round-up

RYAN Stevenson scored twice as Dursley maintained their impressive start to the Stroud League season with a 3-1 home win over Minchinhampton.

Aaron Nash had already hit the crossbar with a penalty when his former Berkeley team-mate Stevenson hooked in a fine opener on the half-hour.

Town doubled their lead midway through the second half when Andy Hobbs ended a goalmouth scramble with a smart finish on the turn.

Minch pulled a goal back, but Stevenson's well-placed shot five minutes from time sealed the points and took Dursley joint-top of Division One.

* Rafael Faria bagged four goals as Dursley thirds thrashed their Uley counterparts 8-0 at Nympsfield in Division Seven of the Stroud League.

Playing on the left-hand side of a three-pronged attack, Faria opened the scoring before Sam Fitzgibbon made it two on the stroke of half-time.

Faria completed his hat-trick with two more goals early in the second period, and Liam Kitchen added the fifth within seconds of coming on.

Demoralised Uley conceded another to Faria, and the rout was rounded off with further goals from Chris Hyam and young defender Mitchell Corbett.

* Dursley Reserves fared less well as they were thumped 6-1 at home by early Division Five leaders Cashes Green. Sam Thomas scored for Town.

* Charlotte Warren fired a hat-trick and Chanelle Uzzell netted her first-ever double as Dursley Ladies went top of the table with a 5-1 victory at Gloucester City on Sunday.

Warren broke clear to score twice in the opening eight minutes of this Gloucestershire County Women's League Division Two encounter.

Uzzell then turned in Suze Stanley's flick from Warren's 11th-minute corner for the third, and made it a brace with a fine shot on the half-hour.

Thereafter Dursley made changes and were less fluent, although Warren volleyed in a Gemma Butler corner in the second half before City replied.

* Dursley Ladies host Bristol Rovers Development in a top-of-the-table clash this coming Sunday, while the men's reserves and thirds are at home against Ruardean Hill thirds and Leonard Stanley Reserves respectively in their county cup first-round ties on Saturday. Dursley firsts do not have a scheduled fixture.
