Dursley 10
Tewkesbury 3
DOGGED Dursley took the spoils against a spirited Tewkesbury outfit.
Earlier, Dursley started brightly, playing down the slope, spending the first 10 minutes in the Tewkesbury half.
Dursley forced themselves in front following a Lennard penalty, but Tewkesbury had the chance to draw level five minutes later with a penalty just inside Dursley half, but the accuracy wasn’t forthcoming. Just on half-time, some indiscipline saw another penalty award this time on the 22 in front of the posts which saw the game all-square at the break.
The second half began with the home side kicking up the slope and the introduction of Crosswell and Goodison in a tactical move which saw Smith move to the wing.
Dursley continued their dominance up front which and thought they had scored the first try of the after some sustained forward pressure saw the ball held up on the try line, however from the resulting scrum Pinker darted over for five points in the corner. Lennard stepped up and slotted a very difficult conversation from the touch line to take the score to 10-3.
Tewkesbury looked to strike back quickly, but hadn’t counted on Dursley’s twin defence tag team of Caddick and Cole, who continued to tackle anything in a white shirt throughout the game.
With eight minutes left to play, Dursley's Cole produced a try saving tackle to cement his man-of-the- match award.
