Division One West
Thornbury Town 2
Hereford Lads Club 0
THORNBURY jumped up to sixth in the early-season league table with a victory over high-flying Hereford.
Thornbury took the lead after the break in a slightly fortuitous fashion. Marcus Wormwell then cut in from the right and his goal-bound effort took a big deflection off the defenders’ head into the net.
Thornbury doubled their lead on 67 minutes - Rhys Hodgson hit a great shot into the bottom corner.
There then followed a scrappy period of play with tempers starting to flare and the referee was forced to brandish his yellow card.
The last chance of the evening fell to Craig Lancastle, but he was unable to convert leaving him goalless in a match for the first time since April.
Thornbury face New College Swindon at home on Saturday.
