Bristol and West 0 Thornbury 3
After a torrid opening three matches, Thornbury gained their first points of the season with a 2-0 victory over Bristol and West 3rds.
Thornbury, who lost a number of senior players in the close season started confidently with the experience of the returning Carys Allen and Amy Horler Play see-sawed from end-to-end.
Ella Clark and Charlie Griffiths were prominent for Thornbury, whilst Amy Bowman controlled the defence with a mixture of vocal encouragement and timely interceptions and Izzy Wyres and Daisey Davies thwarted a number of home attacks.
Jess Taylor continues to show promise in midfield and Amanda McGarry gave a match-winning display in midfield capped by the scoring of the Thornbury second goal with a powerful strike following a penalty corner.
Sarah Lally scored the opening Thornbury goal with a fine individual effort which gave the home goalie no chance. Hannah Kemp, Thornbury's captain and goalkeeper pulled of a couple of fine saves to deny the home side.
On Sunday, Thornbury U 14s gave a promising display despite going down 3-0 to Yate.
