Thornbury Town 7

Tytherington Rocks 0

HOT-SHOT striker Craig Lancastle helped himself to a hat-trick as Thornbury crushed Tytherington Rocks 7-0, writes Mark Franklin.

Earlier, Tytherington started the game in training tops as the referee saw a potential clash with their away strip, were on the back-foot from the first whistle.

The arrival of their more familiar black and gold striped shirts after ten minutes appeared to be the catalyst for sustained Thornbury pressure as two minutes later Harry Brock headed home a Marcus Wormwell cross swiftly followed by Lancastle finishing from another by Jacob Farthing.

Tytherington weren’t without chances of their own but with further goals on the half-hour from Lancastle and just before the break from Brandon Benjamin the result was no longer in doubt with the score 4-0 at half-time.

Thornbury laboured for the first period of the half and there was very little difference between the two sides – Tytherington having the best chance at 4-0 when hitting the crossbar and the follow-up saved by Parkin in the home goal.

Thornbury made their three substitutions in a five minute spell with about 20 minutes to go and with three goals in the last ten minutes – Bennett to Brock for his second, a Tom Webb shot off the inside of the post and Lancastle completing his hat-trick from the spot – the scoreline slightly flattered Thornbury based on their second half performance.

Thornbury travel to Bourton Rovers on Saturday, 2.15pm.
