Chipping Sodbury Ladies 10 – Dursley Ladies 19
Chipping Sodbury lost a narrow cup tie against Dursley.
It was nip and tuck in the opening exchanges. However, Dursley put enough pressure on and forced the error. Possession stayed with the visitors who battled through phase-after-phase and across the full-width of the pitch and scored on the 33rd minute.
Sodbury responded and the charge down by Kelly Anne Parsons was enough to slow the ball. The next couple of phases saw incredible defending by prop Danielle Vaughan who snatched the ball and went on a run of her own, taking a few defenders with her. Sodbury were given the advantage and the following scrum resulted in great work down the backline and full-back Katie Lane getting a well deserved try on the half-time mark to see Sodbury trailing 5-7.
Sodbury started the second half with the same momentum and the first 10 minutes saw the home side with the majority of possession.
Frankie Nutt picked up from the back and used her strength to score Sodbury’s second try on 51 minutes.
Dursley responded a few minutes later and despite some strong defensive work and a cracking hit from Terri Earl, the visitors went over for their second try of the day.
The away side continued to push Sodbury back but once again.
The last few minutes saw Dursley fight to last whistle and despite Sodbury giving everything they had left in the tanks, the away side were rewarded with a third try on the 68th minute.
