Mike Bryant's acrobatic goal handed Yate an important three points at Lodge Road, writes John Davis.

Harrow, who started the game in mid-table, looked a threat from the start and as early as the second minute Bristol City loanee Bradley Webb reacted quickly to get back and tackle Dylan Kearney as he broke into the box.

Yate captain Nick Peare then had a free-kick touched over and Webb had a shot blocked as the home side, with Bryant and Luke Spokes occupying the forward positions following the departure of Louis Britton back to parent club Bristol City and Ollie Mehew to Bristol Manor Farm, with Lewis Bamford moving in the opposite direction.

It was the lively Kearney who opened the scoring on 25 minutes. Marc Charles-Smith, despite appeals for off-side, got away up the right and when he squared the ball into the centre of the goal Kearney side-footed home.

Kearney just failed to make contact with another cross soon afterwards as Borough looked for a second goal and Jordan Ireland blasted well over when the ball ran loose to him just inside the box.

It was the hard-working Webb who levelled the scores just before the break. He was felled in the box as the home side worked a short corner routine on the right and he recovered quickly to send Hafed Al-Droubi the wrong way from the penalty spot.

Mike Bryan tested Adam Forster with a drive early in the second half and Charles-Smith should have done better with a close range header as Borough started the second half on the front foot.

Yate were restricted to breaks out of defence but often did not help their cause with some hurried clearances, loose passing and a failure to win the second ball following a tackle.

The deciding goal came in the 68th minute, Bryant getting to the near post first where, with his back to the goal, he deftly flicked the ball over his shoulder and into the far corner.

Then followed several late anxious moments with Charles-Smith clearing the crossbar again with a backward header and George Moore bringing out a class save from Forster when he cut in from the right to unleash a powerful left-foot shot.
