Tytherington Rocks Ladies 0-0 Bristol Rovers Ladies Development (Rocks won 4-3 on penalties)

Tytherington Rocks Ladies produced a memorable display on Sunday in the Second round of the Gordon Perrett League Cup against Division 2 high-flyers Bristol Rovers Ladies Development, winning on penalties thanks to the heroics of keeper Lauren White.

Rocks Ladies, have themselves been in fine form too of late recording an impressive 10 match unbeaten run before Sundays tussle with Rovers, which has also seen them climb to the top of Division 3 maintaining a 100% start to their campaign.

Sunday’s win be live long in the memories of all those that were in attendance, including young mascots from local side St Nicks FC who also supported the girls in the first round win over Gloucester City Ladies.

The game itself finished 0-0 in the 90 minutes but there was no shortage of drama as Rocks stand in keeper Lauren White produced two stunning saves in quick succession to deny Rovers before taking a shot to the face in the second half as the ladies put their bodies on the line. At the other end, the ever dependable Alice Horton and summer signing Chelsea Giles both went close but with the deadlock unable to be broken the match moved to penalties.

Rocks Ladies would go on to win 4-3 on penalties with White the hero of the day, saving two penalties and converting her own spot-kick.

A fantastic result that sees the girls into the quarter-finals against Abbeymead or Bishop's Cleeve.
