Slimbridge 0
Cirencester Town 3
NEW Cirencester Town manager John Brough got his tenure off to a perfect start with an emphatic victory at Slimbridge.
Town had been rocked 24 hours earlier by the departures of strikers Alan Griffin to Bristol Manor Farm, Jay Malshanskyj to Yate Town and defender Baboucarr Jarra, but they hit their straps inside four minutes at Slimbridge. Speedster Toumani Sidibe picking up the ball up just outside the Slimbridge box and tucking it past Lewis Adams.
Slimbridge responded. Myron Turner’s strike comfortably gathered by Lewis Clayton.
At the other end, Adams denied Jack Freeman from a Sidibe cross.
Cirencester doubled their lead on 53 minutes. Debutant Levi Irving beat the offside trap and slotted the ball through the legs of Adams. Cirencester killed the game off midway through the second half. The diminutive Tommy Anderson scoring from a tight angle after Adams made an initial stop.
In back-to-back home games, Cirencester welcome AFC Totton on Tuesday, 7.45pm and Barnstaple on Saturday, 3pm. Meanwhile, Slimbridge make the trip to league leaders Thatcham Town on Saturday.
