Dursley 37

Old Elizabethans 12

Dursley recorded their second bonus point win of the season with a clinical second-half dissection of Old Es.

The first 10 minutes of the game was an even affair until the home side missed a couple of tackles allowing the visitors the score under the posts, before the number ten somehow hit the post with the conversion. The Dursley pack began to exert some dominance in the scrum so it was no surprise that a signature move from a five-metre scrum saw the pack march forward allowing Jaep to score, but the conversion was missed.

Dursley lost Plumridge to the sin-bin three minutes later for a high tackle but the home scrum remained strong despite being a man down.

This inspired the back line to play expansive running rugby, with Pinker and Lennard linking effectively at nine and 10. Caddick continued to charge forward and was supported by captain Cole. Just before half-time, Dursley took the lead when Lennard slotted home a penalty to make it 8-5.

Dursley made three tactical changes at half-time which looked to have caused confusion within the first couple of minutes when somehow the visitor’s open-side flanker found himself free to run in under the posts, the conversion made it 8-12.

Dursley quickly forgot about the score as they began to attack at will, particularly at the break down and scrum, it was no surprise when a penalty try was awarded following repeated infringements around the try line to make it 15-12.

From the restart Dursley ran the ball through the backs, recycled and droved forward down the left flank, and then knocked the ball on. The visitors put the ball in but could do nothing from five metres out to stop going into reverse for Crosswell to claim a try for 20-12.

The bonus point came on 65 minutes when a lineout over the top found Camm who raced away for a fine score, once again the conversion was missed, making the score 25-12.

Bailey then decided to give the visitors a hand following a needless yellow card. Once again, the visitors found themselves with the scrum put-in on their five-metre line, facing seven-man pack, and once again the home side drove them off the ball, this time Camm picked up and scored his second of the game for 30-12.

With five minutes remaining, the try of the day was scored when some great counter rucking and quick passing released Cole who made 25 metres off loaded to Goodison galloping to the right with much to do, his intelligent use of Plumridge as a decoy with a 'show and go' sat the last defender down, allowing him to race away under the posts before Boucher added the extras to seal the win.
