Gloucestershire FA Women's Challenge Cup Quarter-Final

Cirencester Town Ladies 1 Dursley Town Ladies 0

UNLUCKY Dursley did everything but score as they exited the county cup with a one-goal defeat to Cirencester in the last eight of the competition.

The hosts' artificial pitch allowed the game to beat the worst of Storm Dennis, although the end-to-end gusts heavily influenced the play.

Playing with the wind, Cirencester took a fourth-minute lead, and could have had more but for a number of important saves from Jodie Turl.

The visitors only threatened late in the first half with Gemma Butler firing just wide, and Izzy Hughes lobbing an effort the wrong side of the post.

Dursley dominated the second half, but just could not find a finish. Suze Stanley missed two opportunites and Hughes fired across the face of goal.

Michelle Watson shot straight at the goalkeeper after a good run, Chanelle Uzzell was also denied, while Butler and Zoe Gabb both fired wide.

Dursley: J Turl; E Allen, C Gabb, G Macey, H Daniels; Z Gabb, G Butler, M Watson, S Stanley; S Hill, I Hughes. Rolling substitutes: C Uzzell, S Martin.

* Dursley 3rds' Division Seven game at Cashes Green Reserves was one of only two Stroud League games to go ahead, neither of which finished.

The match was abandoned after 60 minutes due to the deteriorating conditions with score at 3-3.

* Dursley firsts are scheduled to visit Chalford Reserves this weekend, while the Reserves host their Berkeley counterparts, the 3rds host Uley 3rds, and the Ladies host Bradley Stoke on Sunday.
