FOREST GREEN head coach Mark Cooper has revealed why a group of his players are now training away from the first team squad.

Goalkeeper Adam Smith, midfielder Dayle Grubb, forwards Junior Mondal and Shawn McCoulsky are working separately from the main group along with LIoyd James who has not been part of the squad this season.

Cooper admitted the forgotten five are no longer in his plans for the season run-in, he said: "I've just made a group of players, who I think are the ones, who can help us move forward to where we want to be come the end of the season. Any other football club, they just train with the reserves of the under-23s, but we haven't got one of those."

Forest Green go into their trip to Scunthorpe United on Saturday without a win in seven games, winning two matches in their last 19 matches, but remain six points outside the play-offs.

Rovers’ form on the road is in rude health, boasting one defeat in nine road trips, but in stark contrast to their wretched home form of five straight defeats.

Mark Cooper also discussed his latest team news, thoughts on Scunthorpe, the return of Udoka Godwin-Malife and the George Williams factor.
