Frampton United 2

Quedgeley Wanderers 1

JOSH LOVERIDGE’S Frampton United leapfrogged Sharpness at the top of the table with a win at home to Quedgeley Wanderers.

It will be a case of the proverbial six-pointer this Saturday when Frampton travel to title rivals Sharpness, who are now a point behind Frampton after their game at Patchway Town was called off.

Earlier, Quedgeley thought they had bundled the ball over the line on 5 minutes, but the assistant referee ruled the goal out.

Frampton’s first effort on goal saw Manolo Espada rattle the crossbar.

On the cusp of the break, Quedgeley had a great chance to take the lead when Frampton keeper Aaron Taylor completely misjudged a cross and Kyle James-Bryan headed wide. A minute before half-time Frampton took the lead when Fin Blythe’s free-kick came back off the bar and Nathan Dennis headed in the rebound. Early in the second half, Frampton went 2-0 up when Craig Mills sent a great ball through for Steve Jackson to score. Quedgeley got a goal back late in the game when Lewis Payton scored from the penalty spot.
