The newly established Tockington and Thornbury Tornadoes cricket team are looking for players and are holding a welcome training session for girls of any age to come and try the sport.
This exciting collaboration between Tockington Manor School and Thornbury Cricket Club is fully supported by the Gloucestershire Cricket Board to promote and develop the game of cricket amongst girls following increased interest in the sport and the success of the England Women’s team and local team “Western Storm”.
“There has been a huge increase in girls & women’s participation across many sports and we want to be part of this growth. Tockington Manor School has been a valued partner of the Club for a number of years now and we both feel the time is right to launch the girls’ game within our local community.” Said Richard 'Harry' Hawkins - Youth Chairman Thornbury CC.
Pop along to our welcome training session at Castle School Indoor Nets on Tuesday 24th March from 6-8pm for more information and to have a go in the cricket nets. Thornbury CC Coaches will be on hand to give guidance to help develop existing skills and introduce cricket to those new to the game. Plus meet and train with some of the local Gloucestershire Women’s team.
For more information email: rhawkins8097@gmail.com, attend the welcome session or join the regular training sessions at Thornbury Cricket Club from Friday 10th April at 6pm.
