Forest Green Rovers has announced the signing of teenage striker Jake Young from Sheffield United on a two-year deal.
Huddersfield-born Young, 18, joined the premier league outfit in 2019 from non-league Guiseley after catching the eye of Blades’ manager Chris Wilder in a first team behind closed doors game against Wigan.
Young played regularly for the Under-23s, scoring the winner on his debut against Birmingham City at St Andrew’s with his first touch.
On his arrival at the New Lawn, Young said: “I spent 18 months at Sheffield United, it was a good moment, but I’m now ready for a new challenge.
"Forest Green are on the rise and a great club to join and are moving in the right direction.”
Director of Football Richard Hughes championed the capture of Rovers’ latest signing, he said: “He’s a good prospect with some tools that we look forward to developing.
"Technically, he is proficient and has a real ability to score different types of goals.”
