After scoring the winning goal in Yate Town’s FA Cup clash against Dover Athletic on Tuesday, striker James Harding has been reflecting on his historic strike.

“It’s what you dream of, especially in the FA Cup. It hasn’t sunk in yet.”

Harding’s 75th minute winner was enough to send the Bluebells to the first round of the FA Cup proper for only the second time in the club’s history.

“The fans made a massive difference especially at the end when we were holding on.”

“It was so good to see them in the ground.”

Yate Town’s super sub is a self-employed property investor.

“A few of the lads had to go into work on Wednesday but I gave myself the day off.”

“[Playing at this level] is a big commitment but nights like these make it all worthwhile.”

Yate Town will get £9,375 in prize money for reaching the next stage of the competition.

All eyes will be on the Bluebells as they face Yeovil Town at 3pm on Saturday, November 6 in the first round of the FA Cup.

Yate Town will be hoping to go one better than the last time they reached this stage in the 2012/13 campaign, when they lost 3-0 to Cheltenham Town.

“Yeovil Town should be a good game. They are another well organised side who play in the National League.”

“I fancy us to win against Yeovil.”
