Yate Town 0 Farnborough 2

Report by John Davis

Another disappointing display hampered further progress up the table. No points from the last three home games and only one goal scored tells its own story..

Both sides did well to master a swirling wind in the early stages but the stalemate was largely played out in midfield and neither outfit managed to work the opposing goalkeeper during the first thirty minutes.

A good cross from Ollie Mehew just failed to reach James Harding and Joe Hall in the box before, at the other end, Mitchell Parker curled a free kick from the edge of the box over the crossbar.

There was an element of good fortune about Farnborough's opening goal after thirty one minutes. An effort on goal rebounded kindly into the path of Reggie Young and he steered his shot into the far corner as Andy Hannah came off his line to narrow the angle.

Visiting goalkeeper Jack Turner struggled to keep out a deflected shot from Sam Kamara just under the crossbar as the second half got underway before Harding almost got on the end of a through ball from Matt Bower.

When Farnborough hit back, Sam Deering's free kick was well saved by Hannah low down on the near post before substitute David Pratt tested Hannah with a well struck ground shot.

It was Pratt though who got Farnbrough's crucial second goal minutes later when he was left with the simplest of tap-ins after the ball had been well won on the by-line and worked into the goalmouth.

Town threw on three substitutes in an effort to wrest something out of the game but the closest they came to any reward was when Sam Turl stretched but just failed to make any real contact on a long cross from Bower at the far post.

Yate Town: Hannah, Turl, Tunnicliff, Kamara (Rees 75 minutes), Bower, Lewis, Adams, Hall (Hopper 75 minutes), Harding, Tumelty (Angel 75 minutes), Mehew. Subs not used: Williams, McKinnon.

Hendon are the hosts next Saturday before the end of season run in features three games each week.
