Thornbury Town travelled to Hereford on Good Friday to take on Westfields in their final game of the season.
With players still missing due to injury and suspension, there was a chance for a couple of the U18’s forwards, Henry Thomas and George Baker, to show what they have to offer.
For the most part, the pace of the Westfields attack was nullified by another impressive defensive display from Thornbury but when they did break free MacKenzie Welsh in the visitors goal made some excellent saves.
However on 38 minutes a string of Westfields corners finally resulted in the ball being crossed in and Josh Hunt found space to head home.
Five minutes into the second half a Thomas cross was headed across the goal for Joe Guest to head home. Unfortunately, a flag had been raised for offside.
Westfields edged possession in the second half but Thornbury could have snatched a point on another day.
A 14th place finish well clear of the relegation zone represents a solid first season in the Hellenic League Premier Division.
