CRICKETERS have been bowled over by a donation of new kit.

Pucklechurch Cricket Club's new gear is sponsored by housebuilder Redrow South West.

The club - located close to Redrow’s Frenchay Gardens development - has three adult teams, an All Stars Cricket team for 5 to 8-year-olds and a Dynamo Cricket team for 9 to 11-year-olds.

In addition, there is also a recently established ladies’ softball team.

The club is a hub for community activity as well as it provides children with a positive environment in which they will go on to learn and develop skills that they can use beyond football to handle life’s challenges.

Ryan Watts, 1st XI Captain at the cricket club said: “On behalf of everyone here, I would like to extend my thanks and gratitude to everyone at Redrow for their donation.

“Fundraising for the club is always a challenge. We are therefore eternally grateful for Redrow’s ongoing support as it makes it possible for us to continually bring welfare to the area and a space for the community to gather.”

Redrow also recently donated a defibrillator to the club which gives voice prompts and easy to understand visuals that guide the user through treating a patient who is suffering a cardiac arrest.

Commenting on the sponsorship, Redrow South West area sales manager Charlotte Newnes said: “We are committed to helping the local communities and are thrilled to be supporting the club.

"We strive to integrate our sites in the local area and make sure we get involved in an array of initiatives and organisations that surround our developments.”

The Frenchay Gardens development consists of a range of two, three and four-bedroom homes.

The development’s final phase, due to be released this summer, will comprise of a collection of one and two-bedroom apartments and two, three and four-bedroom houses.
