What a difference a few days make. Yate Town gained swift revenge following their midweek league defeat at Tiverton and booked their place in the Third Qualifying Round of the Emirates FA Cup with a sweetly struck decider six minutes from time.

Things could not have started worse for the home side when they had midfielder Brandon Smalley red-carded only five minutes in after a last ditch tackle on the edge of the box following a quickly taken throw in.

Matt Buchan, Niall Thompson and Kane Simpson threatened for the visitors while at the other end Ollie Mehew had a shot low down saved by Lewis Williams and then had a header tipped over by the Tiverton goalkeeper after good work by Alex Lambert.

Despite playing for most of the half with only ten men, it was the home side who got in front on thirty minutes. Prince Henry robbed Tiverton defender Josh James as he dithered on the ball and the Yate striker bore down on goal before driving the ball in past Lewis.

Player numbers were evened-up minutes later when Tiverton's Simpson was ordered off after picking up a second yellow card following a challenge on Yate goalkeeper Martin Horsell.

Buchan had two goal-bound efforts blocked as the Devon side started the second half strongly and then in quick succession Horsell had to be at his best to make crucial saves from Joe O'Loughlin, Lucas Vowles and Dylan Jones.

Persistent pressure from the visitors was finally rewarded though on 78 minutes when Thompson crossed from the right for Vowles, despite being under pressure, to level the scores from close range.

Yate were not finished and, with the clock ticking down and a replay seeming likely, Allen advanced with the ball from midfield and drilled a low ground in from the edge of the box past a startled Williams.
A blank midweek is followed by Saturday's league visit to Poole Town.
