IT proved to be a difficult weekend for the senior teams at Yate Hockey Club last weekend.

Yate Women 1s were on the wrong side of the 3-2 scoreline as Newent took the spoils on their travels. Yate's goals came from joint player of the match Kyisha Cooke, assisted by Antonia Joy, and Jess Brain, assisted by Chloe and Sally Ellis.

Emily Channon in goal was joint player of the match after making a number of fine saves.

Yate Ladies 2s had a week off this week, having played their originally frozen off fixture last Sunday.

Yate Ladies 3s visited Wotton-Under-Edge 2s in their rearranged fixture. The match started with good pace but unfortunately for Yate, it was Wotton who scored first.

Shortly before the break, Yate managed to equalise through an excellent solo effort from Nicola Bruce, who slotted the ball into the Wotton net.

After the break, Yate seemed to lose their way and Wotton scored again. Despite playing well with good performances from Emma Smith, Kirsty Brain and Carly Bryan, Wotton scored again.

Other strong performances came from Julia Collin and Sharron Bates but unfortunately, the end result was 4-1 to Wotton.

The one positive result from the weekend came from the Yate Men's 1s, who beat Clifton Robinsons 4s team 4-3 at home in an exciting match.

There were Yate goals for all the Matts; Matt Child, Matt Robins and Matt Bethell and the score was 3-3 before Danny Pearce clinched the winner for Yate.

Yate Men's 2s lost 7-0 at home to Whitchurch 4.
