HIGH-FLYING Bracknell Town condemned Yate Town to a 10th straight league defeat on Saturday to leave them rock-bottom of the Southern League Premier South table.

Adam Richards tapped home from a loose ball in the six-yard box to give the play-off bound visitors the lead late in the first-half before striker Joe Grant grabbed his 20th goal of the season three minutes after the break.

It was always going to be a big ask for Yate to avoid relegation given their dismal run since the turn of the year and now their task looks almost impossible.

They are nine points off safety having played two games more than 18th place Hendon with just five games left.

The Bluebells look destined for the drop unless they can win all of their remaining matches in the league. They go to Chesham United next, who have a play-off spot to protect in their final few games of the 2022/23 campaign.

After that, they host Metropolitan Police and Swindon Supermarine either side of a trip to Merthyr Town before they conclude their season away at fellow relegation-favourites Harrow Borough.

Four of the five are against top-half sides, which makes Yates' challenge tougher and fans are starting to fear the worst.

Should they get relegated, Yate would drop down into the Southern League Division One South.
