CAM Cricket picked up their first win of the 2023 cricket season as they edged past Shurdginton by three wickets.

Jake Dolbear's 61 not-out got the visitors over the line with just a couple of overs to spare after being set a target of 176 to win.

Cam won the toss and put the hosts into bat and it paid off early on as Alex Atkinson bowled both of the openers Lee Baldwin (16) and Keith Knight (0).

George Dolling trapped Dave Carter for just a single run and the away side were already into the middle order, where Tom Knight proved to be the savior for the hosts.

His 67 not-out frustrated the Cam bowlers, who were making light work of the rest of the order.

Chris White (7), Ollie Knight (4) and Jack Styman (4) were dismissed by Atkinson, Dolling and Gareth Udal respectively for single-digit scores.

Tailenders Ryan Tyson (20) and Mason Beasley (19) added some valuable runs to the score before Dolbear removed them both and Shurdington were all-out for 175.

This time it was the hosts who started well as Cam lost their openers Sam Buck for 12 and Craig Mills for a duck, whilst Ryan Malpass only scored 6.

Udal steadied the ship with 37 and together with Dolbear, the pair put on a partnership that contributed the majority of the runs in the chase.

Udal was out LBW to Mason Beasley and the home side were now focussed on removing Dolbear, but it did not happen.

Whilst the likes of Alex Ballard 912), Ben Dolbear (6) and Adam Holloway (2) were all dismissed, J Dolbear stood firm and in the end, Dolling (18 not-out) provided the necessary assistance to get Cam over the line.

Cam move up into fourth in Division Two of the Gloucestershire County League and they are back in action this weekend when they host Rockhampton.
