FOREST GREEN have swooped for former Swindon Town striker Kaid Mohamed.

Mohamed, 23, signed an initial 12-month deal with Jim Harvey on Tuesday afternoon.

The Welshman will be seen as the perfect foil for former Bury striker Andy Mangan, who joined the New Lawn in May.

Mohamed was shown the exit door by Town boss Maurice Malpas at the end of the season.

Mohamed made his debut for Cwmbran Town at the age of 18 and established himself in the Welsh Premier League as a regular goalscorer. He moved to Llanelli two years later, but really made his mark for Carmarthen in the 2006-07 season.

Mohamed went on trial at Wrexham at the end of the 2006-07 season. Despite showing an interest in signing him they were too late as Swindon Town signed Mohamed last August.

He joined Torquay United on loan last season and scored twice in four games. Meanwhile, Harvey is set to take a look at former Cheltenham Town and Hereford United striker Marcus Palmer.

Harvey is also running the rule over a number Hartpury College boys which include Shortwood's Ben Pugh.

Elsewhere, Harvey has been backed to move into the Football League by former Reading and Cambridge boss Jimmy Quinn.

Quinn told the Non League-Paper: "If Milan Mandaric got Jim Harvey, Leicester would go from strength to strength and get into the Premier League without a shadow of doubt.

"He's a manager who people want to play for and give it their all. People get jobs in the Premiership who aren't a patch on him."

ROVERS' kit will be sponsored by Dubi-based firm First Line Consultancy and brewery giants Marstons.
