AN aspiring reporter from Sir Bernard Lovell Academy has written about a recent football under 13s cup match as part of a new young reporter scheme.

THE girl’s football team were victorious in Round 3 of the ESFA National Under 13’s Cup on Thursday, November 9 against Katharine Lady Berkeley's.

SBL coach of the team and PE teacher, Miss Mills, displayed her strong sense of pride in the team’s winning performance on the pitch following their “exceptional team effort.”

Upon watching the SBL's performance, it was clear that they were all strong-minded, aspiring young players, who possessed true passion for football.

Miss Mills says she wants to be a part of those changes that are being made for future for girl’s and women's football.

She added: “I wanted to help improve grassroots women’s football as growing up there weren't as many opportunities for me to play.”

Despite the wind and icy rain they faced on Thursday, the team were able to celebrate another win with a final score of 4-1 against Katharine Lady Berkeley’s School.

Player of the match, Lottie Jones, managed to surpass the opposing team’s defence, accomplishing an incredible four goals - ensuring the team’s victory.

Miss Mills highlights her “impressive effort” after she “secured her first goal, top right hand corner.”

She said: “After the first goal we had the game under control, keeping our composure with Lottie Jones scoring her second goal in the first half.”

The team will next play in round four next month.
