THE long-awaited local derby between Dursley Ladies Hockey team and Wotton Ladies lasted only 10 minutes at the weekend.

After a delayed start hoping that the frost would melt away, the umpires decided on a 10-minute trial in which to see if the conditions improved.

Dursley scored after five minutes as Rosie Dimery forced the ball over the line in a goalmouth scramble.

Home keeper Aine Redmond then made two great saves to protect that lead but the umpires then decided the pitch was unsafe and the match was abandoned.

Dursley wore their new kit sponsored by Spring Villa for the first time.
