THERE was no shortage of entertainment on offer this weekend involving sides representing Yate Hockey Club, especially if you were watching the Ladies Development team.

The Ladies 4s (or Development side) made the trip to Redland for the second meeting between the two this season and what a game it proved to be as the points were shared in a 14-goal thriller.

Alex Bessex opened up the scoring in the first half with LG following close behind but Redland seemed to match Yate goal for goal with an enjoyable end-to-end performance from both teams. At half time, Yate had 4 goals to show for their efforts with Jess Vale-Webb and Heidi Bruce getting on the score sheet.

The second half started with a spring in Yate’s step bringing more end-to-end play, and they managed another three goals from LG but it really could have been more, with chances for Olivia McKenzie and so many deliveries into the D from Imogen Collin.

Elsewhere, the Yate U14s emerged with a satisfying 5-4 win against City of Bath at home on Sunday. Star player for Yate was Luis Brain, scoring four of Yate’s goals, including one from a stunning reverse stick strike.

The Yate Ladies 1s also enjoyed a victory over the weekend a goal from Katie Browne and two for Ruth Belcher secured a 3-1 win over Newent.

The Yate Men's 1s scored a late goal to beat Bristol & West 1-0 to climb the table into second.

North Wiltshire proved too strong for Yate Ladies 2s. A goal for Heidi Bruce was the high point in an otherwise disappointing afternoon against strong opposition as they went down 4-1.

Yate Ladies 3s were up against Hanham and they managed to keep a clean sheet and score three times as they wrapped up a convincing victory.
