TYTHERINGTON ROCKS lost their first game in the last eight league encounters -but it was easy to see why they were beaten by determined opposition.
The Rocks were abysmal in their second half performance and manager Barry Grainger admitted: “The only goal was a terrific strike, but we should have stopped them.
“We left them a lot of space and we were caught out. We did have a couple of the chances but we couldn’t play in the tempo we are used to”.
The match winner came in the 74th minute when the visitors’ right back, Dan Reeves, went over the halfway line in a crusading run and from 30 yards his high shot cannoned into the top corner of the Rocks net.
In the first half, Rocks goalkeeper Rob Dent made a good stop to save a Steve Hawkins shot.
At the other end, a header from Nathan Irwin at the far post, was brilliantly stopped by Kurt Fox in the Easington Sports goal, and Danny Thorpe and Nick Ackland fired wide.
The Rocks have three league games away from home to come and they have to get more points to keep in the middle of the table.
Grainger said: “We have a small squad and I hope Adam Keslake will be okay to come back before Christmas, as we have some difficult games to come.
“But against Easington Sports the Rocks did not deserve to win or draw and at the end they got nothing.”
On Saturday the Rocks are away to Wootton Bassett Town (3pm).
