WOTTON-UNDER-EDGE motocross rider Lee Dunham has just enjoyed the most remarkable season of his career to date by winning both the IMBA MX2 European championship and the AMCA MX2 British championship.

On his way to IMBA European championship glory, the 24 year-old Dursley MX club member has competed in the Czech Republic, France, England, Germany, Switzerland and Holland.

Dunham won the first two races during the second round of action at Milac D’Auberoche in Southern France and moved to the top of the European championship standings.

He was still leading when he travelled to Meijel, Holland for the last round and the title showdown, and he finished the job in style with a hard earned seventh overall, which was enough to clinch his first IMBA title, just ten points ahead of fellow Brit Phil Mercer.

Within just two weeks of claiming his first ever major motocross title, Dunham then also secured the AMCA British championship as Mercer again proved to be his closest rival.

Throughout the series though, Dunham consistently produced the more outstanding performances.

In the eight rounds held during the AMCA series, he scored five overall victories and in a total of 22 races contested he only finished outside the top four positions on just a remarkable three occasions.

Such was his dominance that, after the sixth round of the championship, Dunham was already 134 points clear of Mercer.

Stretching that advantage even further at Walterstone near Hereford, he went into the final round at Norley, Cheshire requiring just a total of 32 points, equivalent to an 11th place finish, to earn his first ever AMCA British championship title.

Producing another classy, professional performance, Dunham got the business done in the first race of the day by riding to a comfortable sixth place finish.

With the title in the bag, Dunham then picked up another sixth spot in moto two before sitting out the last race of the season.

Whilst Dunham has naturally earned all the plaudits, his success as been a truly family effort.

His dad Mike, a former motocross rider himself, has immaculately prepared and maintained the Kawasaki bikes, also driving the race transporter to all the events.

His mum Denise and girlfriend Charlie Porter also do various jobs to offer their support.
