NICKI Bruce’s Thornbury side have started the second half of the season in a similar vein to their initial games at the beginning of the season.

Three wins were followed by a number of defeats until a draw was achieved in the last match before the mid-season break.

Thornbury, under the watchful eye of coach Max Longden created a number of early chances following some excellent passing exchanges involving Anna Prince, Megan McLachlan and Jess Taylor. Megan Allen and Alex Arnold were prominent everywhere for the home side and were both rewarded with goals.

Megan guiding home a through ball from Izzy Hunter and Alex hammering home from a short corner. Carys Allen, Lou Lou Taylor and Amy Horler excelled in defence for the home side making a number of timely interceptions to deny a plucky visiting side for whom Jenni Munro shone.

Star of the show for Thornbury was however captain Bruce who continued her pleasing form with a well executed hat-trick.

Molly Smith grabbed the final goal. Thornbury face a tough challenge on Saturday when they visit BAC seconds at Abbeywood School.

SARAH Brealeys side enjoyed their trip up the M 4 to play North Wilts 2nds at Swindon where Thornburys Sarah Lally was in sparkling form grabbing 4 excellent goals.

The experienced Lauren Lever again found the target for the second week running, scoring 2 fine goals. The other Thornbury goals came from Megan Grigg 2 and Lily Wolter .Promising new keeper Steph Staton made a number of saves to deny the home forwards and Larley Staton , Charlie Griffiths and Lucy Matthews were prominent on the pitch constructing a number of well executed passing exchanges together and sending a number of through balls to the goal hungry Sarah Lally up front.
