Thornbury 1 Dursley 1

BOTH teams contributed to an end to end game with the 1-1 draw a fair result.

Thornbury were pleased to get back to playing following the postponement of their games at Bristol and Yate , the first due to a heavy overnight frost which meant the pitch was frozen for the 9.30 start and last week’s snow caused the second game to be postponed.

Play was fairly even in the first half with the visitors creating the better chances, indeed they took the lead shortly before the interval when Amber Coombes beat Ellen Creed with a powerful shot following a well-executed build up.

Alex Arnold roamed all over the pitch in her usual inimitable style popping up in defence and in attack. Izzy Hunter, Jess Taylor and Rosie Liddington were effective in mid field for the home side and Lou-Lou Taylor, Sara Newman and player of the match Elaine Arnold were prominent in defence for Thornbury.

Carys Allen gave another committed performance and along with Anna Prince and Megan McLachlan sent a number of well-timed through balls to captain Nicky Bruce who trod a lonely path up front. Thornbury continued to push for an equaliser which duly came when Elaine Arnold found herself with the ball near the opposition back line, she duly crossed the ball which found Megan McLachlan in the area and whose shot went into the goal via a defenders foot.
