YATE TOWN striker Jake Reid is currently on trial with a League Two club.

The Gazette understands he is being looked at by Rotherham United, where his brother Reuben Reid plays.

The Bristol-born 22-year-old scored nine goals last season, including five in the last three Southern League Premier games.

Winger Jason Wood is understood to be on trial at Chippenham Town, while Mike Whittington is believed to be signing for Frome Town.

However, Yate manager Dave Mogg expects to see a lot of new faces at the first session of pre-season training tonight, including former Bristol City and Swindon Town star Matt Hewlett.

The 33-year-old, who retired from the professional game through injury two years ago, could sign for the Zamaretto Division One South and West side if pre-season goes well.

Tom Warren, John McAlinder, Scott Thomas, Rob Dunphy, Toby Colbourne, Mark Reynolds and Dave Pearce have all been made offers and are expected to attend training.

Former Bath City player Callum Stewart heads a number of trialists being looked at by Mogg.

Yate target Lee Collier, a central midfielder, has joined Blue Square South side Weymouth.

Meanwhile, Yate have confirmed that their new assistant manager is Grantley Dicks, brother of West Ham United legend Julian.
